”He has never been involved in sharp practices to unfairly line his pockets, all his life.

”He has always worked in areas where he earned salaries. That’s how he managed his family finances. Salaries.

President Buhari ordered the release of the funds during his meeeitng with the governors on Friday, March 17

She alluded to the fact that there is separation of powers in the Nigerian constitution, suggesting that the president’s hands are tied in terms of ensuring that the governors use the money released judiciously.

”Governors are not under the control of the presidency. Governors are autonomous,” she wrote.

She noted that President Buhari is not under obligation to give state bailouts.

”But his humanity, patriotism and his concern for the well-being of Nigerians, always come to play and take precedence in the way he acts,” she added.

Onochie urged Nigerians in the states where salaries are owed, to become active citizens by insisting that their salaries be paid.

She advised the workers to camp in front of the government houses peacefully till their salaries are fully paid.

”Enough of this taking Nigerians for a ride. Let’s stop making excuses for those who are standing on our heads,” she concluded.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Governors Forum has denied that it diverted part of the first tranche of the Paris-London Club refund to states released to states and the federal capital territory by the federal government some time ago.

The forum maintained that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, which is investigating the allegations has not found any one of them guilty, so there was no need for the uproar.
