On Thursday, May 25, the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Foundation in collaboration with the Ford Foundation hosted the maiden edition of the remembrance of the Nigerian-Biafra civil war which took place in 1967.

The event, “Memory and Nation Building, Biafra : 50 Years After” was themed: “A sober reflection”.

The event hosted a number of Nigerian dignitaries including the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, a former permanent secretary of the ministry of information Ahmed Joda, the president of Ohanaeze Ndigbo John Nnia-Nwodo.

Others includes: the former minster of education Obiageli Ezekwesili, renowned economist Pat Utomi, John Stremlau of the university of Witwatersrand, former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission Chidi Odinkalu among many others.

The speakers spoke on various issues surrounding the 1967 civil war and post civil war events.
